I’m Karyn Kelbaugh
Instead of gracing you with some snazzy much needed professional portrait, here I am how you will usually see me.
Dinosaur upon request.
all you need to know (mostly)
Extrovert: I’m the wing woman you take with you when you have to mingle with a room full of strangers. I love making people laugh. My extrovertedness can best be summed up by this video.
Skills and All That Life Experience Stuff
As a teenager on through college I loved collecting jobs. It was my chance to try all the things. I’ve served pizza, I’ve served 40 flavors of hand-scooped ice cream and even fancy hotel food via room service (balance skills!).
I’ve sold massage chairs and mattresses, greeting cards and books (Harry Potter midnight release parties anyone??). I even learned how to make a proper latte and Javanilla Shake (oh Borders, how I miss you). I’ve stamped holes in bus window frames, sanded truck doors and packed frozen pizzas into boxes (where I had my I Love Lucy moment).
I’ve even been a vet tech and loved on dogs and cats and their humans (and learned how to manage inventory for an animal hospital).
All along the way, I was thrown into a lot of different situations and I learned what I do best. I love strangers! Basically, because they don’t stay strangers for long. I know how to break the ice and help people feel comfortable quickly. I’ve learned how to handle difficult customer conversations and make sure people feel heard.
All this combined with my social work training and experiences has made me who I am today. I love people. I love hearing their stories and I love getting to the heart of what matters to them so they can feel seen and understood.
Favorites (aka Future Ice Breaker topics)
Star Trek TNG, Star Wars, Outlander (books + show), Harry Potter
My education and background is in social work and non-profit evaluation. I’ve been interviewing, focus grouping, surveying and doing exciting things like needs assessments and process evaluations for over 15 years.
I also ran a photography business for 9 years where I learned first hand all that I could about what it’s like to run a business with an online presence. Plus a ton about lighting and posing and all things Photoshop. I have a lot of random skills. =)
If you have questions or simply want to chat and say hi, just send me a note. I would love to hear from you.
